Colton Colyer

BA(Hons) Music
2020 — 2023

Colton is a multigenre composer who is graduating with a BA(Hons) Music degree from LASALLE College of the Arts, specialising in composition and arranging. He wrote his first performed piece, 'Mountains of the Gods', in high school that combined both string and concert band. Colton enjoys writing in and combining many different genres – including orchestral music, jazz, techno and retro video game music. He is heavily inspired by film and game music, as well as classical, jazz and rock music. Colton is also inspired by light music composers of the 40s and 50s such as David Rose and Robert Farnon.

Work

Colton has composed multiple pieces in LASALLE, such as 'Wandering Forthright' and 'On a First Name Basis', both of which were played live in the Composers' Concert in 2022. He also arranged 'A Night in Tunisia' for big band, which was played in the 'Brass on the Frass' event for LASALLE's annual Open House 2023.
