Doran Oon
Singaporean-born luthier, composer and multi-instrumentalist Doran is a proficient, versatile and award-winning musician. Educated in Singapore, they began pursuing music at the age of three and began performing as a live musician in the local indie scene, with their band The New Modern Lights.
From 2017 to 2023, Doran trained under Tan Weixiang, Christy Smith and Belinda Foo, proceeding to win the award for Single of the Year (Rock) at the annual Singapore Youth Music Awards in 2021 with The New Modern Lights.
During their time at LASALLE, they honed their craft and picked up new skills, notably cymbal crafting and playing electric bass, flute and drums. An ardent teacher and arranger, Doran aims to create art that inspires and innovates.
Work
Doran's notable performances include Baybeats Festival (2019). They were the winner of Single of the Year (Rock) Youth Music Awards (2021) with Singaporean indie rock band The New Modern Lights. They have five years of freelance experience in guitar lutherie and two years of freelance experience in cymbal work.
