Lin Rui's love for music began when she started learning the piano at the age of seven. Her passion for music grew when she joined the Music Elective Programme (MEP) in secondary school and junior college. Having been exposed to a wide variety of musical styles in MEP, Lin Rui decided to pursue a BA(Hons) Music degree at LASALLE College of the Arts.

Lin Rui has played in concert and symphonic bands, string ensemble and Chinese orchestra, and was a percussionist and double bassist on top of being a pianist. She enjoys performing with other musicians and being part of a music ensemble. Lin Rui aspires to have a deeper involvement in the musical scene and hopes to further her studies. In her free time, Lin Rui loves attending concerts and cooking.

Work

Lin Rui’s musical engagement includes competing in the Singapore Youth Festival in a concert band (2010 and 2012), for symphonic band (2015), as part of a string ensemble and a Chinese orchestra (2017), and the National Band Competition (2014).

She has also performed for Limelight at Esplanade, In Youthful Company at Espalnade Concourse, MEP concerts, Chinese opera concerts at Shaw Foundation Symphony Stage and recitals at library@Esplanade. She was also appointed as section leader and student conductor in her school days.
