Diploma in Music
2020 — 2023

Qian Hao is a guitarist who first encountered music via Japanese anime. Deeply impressed by the immersive experience created by the combination of story and music, Qian Hao is a firm believer of music's power to influence one's memories and emotions.

Since then, Qian Hao has explored and enjoyed a variety of genres, inclusing light music, pop music, anime soundtrack and rock music. In his opinion, the combination of melody, harmony and emotion is the key to good music.

During his time in the Diploma in Music programme at LASALLE, Qian Hao expanded his knowledge about music theory, guitar playing and critical and creative thinking, but also made many important friends. He believes that people have to strive to express themselves, and not shy away from difficult choices when they are young. Qian Hao hopes to start a business in the future and sustain a lifelong love of music.

Work

Qian Hao's band Blue Raincoat participated in the 3rd Modern Music Carnival (2018) held in Zhejiang Province, China, where they performed 'Go For It' by T-square and won a special gold award. In the same year, he played guitarist Nick Jonston's guitar solo 'Atomic Mind' for Nick and Keith Merrow's Hangzhou tour.

Qian Hao has also participated in the Flying Fingers Guitar competition in 2020 held by Ibanez in Bilibili, where his original electric guitar melodies gained a lot of love. While studying at LASALLE, he participated in the Diploma in Music Level 2 showcase and played in the ensemble for his classmates' recital performances.
